X-ray Services
Diagnostic imaging tools provide a totally painless way for doctors to look inside your body. The pictures created during the exam provide information that can improve the diagnosis of certain musculoskeletal conditions and can eliminate the need to undergo diagnostic surgical procedures. X-ray uses electromagnetic radiation to depict bone structures. Austin Sports Medicine employs the advanced Quantum©Digital Imaging System which allows flexible positioning, more accurate testing and faster results than the older film systems. Images are saved digitally, allowing rapid review and consultation with other specialists when required.
MRI Services - Open MRI
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) uses a magnetic field with radio frequency waves to depict soft tissue structures. Typically 25% of MRI tests are for extremities and do not require imaging in a whole-body MRI. Austin Sports Medicine utilizes the Siemens Magnetom Aera MRI. It is the largest and shortest bore magnet made, making the patient experience less claustrophobic. Our procedure times range from 18 to 30 minutes. No contrast is administered at this site. In order to schedule the test, all patients must obtain an MRI order from an Austin Sports Medicine physician. To schedule an appointment please call (512) 450-1300.
Ultrasound
Ultrasound guided injection is a minimally invasive procedure used for treating various musculoskeletal painful conditions such as tendonitis, bursitis and neuritis or to perform cyst aspiration.
